I have wanted to start a blog for a while but have never gotten around to it...that's just how life goes! But I FINALLY decided to go through with it and so here we go!
My name is Haley Maddox and I am 22 years old. I live in south Alabama with my sweet husband Brennan and we are expecting our first baby on New Year's Day! I am about 14 weeks, so the nausea and exhaustion is super real right now, but it is all SO worth it.
We have dreamed about being parents for a while and the Lord was so good and faithful to answer our prayers! We have a lot to learn about being parents, but we are so excited to begin this journey soon :)
We have been married for almost TWO YEARS.....so crazy it has already been that long, and have loved every single day of married life. We are strong believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and strive to live everyday for Him and use our marriage to point others to Him. Marriage is such a wonderful gift from the Lord, and when both the husband and wife seek the Lord with their whole hearts, joy fills their marriage and they are a bright light to all those around them. That is my prayer for our marriage!
Some of my favorite things to do are hang out with the hubs, go to the beach, jam to some fun tunes, eat delicious food, spend time with family and friends, watch cartoons and chick-flicks, smell yummy candles, and sing and play piano!
I have also always loved art and when I was little, my parents constantly encouraged me to pursue it. So, I grew up loving to paint and draw, and when I came to college in 2015, I began a small art business called Haley Jackson Designs where I sold watercolor paintings, coffee mugs, signs, and really anything I wanted to try! It wasn't until I got engaged in January 2017 that wedding invitations sparked my interest.
When Brennan proposed and we began planning our wedding, I began thinking about what it would be like to design wedding invitations! And what better time to start than when I needed my own? So my sweet parents, who are always so supportive, invested in me and helped me get some of the equipment I would need.
While I was designing my own invitations, I actually had my very first client! It didn't take long for me to realize how much I absolutely loved designing wedding invitations. Since then, I have really settled in to the wedding market, have had about 50 clients, and renamed my business! Now the name of my business is Rose and Cotton Lettering. This name is very special to me. It comes from the two small communities that Brennan and I are from: Rose Hill and Cotton Valley. We now live in Rose Hill near his family!
One of my greatest desires is to be able to be home with my husband and kids as much as possible, but I also want to do what I love and contribute to our family economy! Balancing the business with family life is difficult at times, and will be more difficult once this little baby is here, but it is worth it! Proverbs 31 talks about a godly woman who is not only a wife and mother, but is also an incredibly hard worker, a woman of great wisdom who uses her talents to better her family, and an intelligent business woman who is constantly learning new ways to bring in resources to bless her family and others. Her husband's heart safely trusts in her (Proverbs 31:11) and her children rise up and call her blessed (Proverbs 31:28). THIS is my prayer...my life's goal...my greatest desire. Honor the Lord with every breath, love my husband and children with my whole heart, and be a blessing to my family and others who can benefit from my business.
I pray every day that God would give me wisdom on how to be a great wife, mom and business owner. I know I will never be perfect, but I want to strive to be the best I can be in all things!! I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed me with this business and that He has given me a great community of other business owning wives and mothers who are striving for the same things that I am!
